Selected Industry prototyping

Design for industry

This was a line of furniture specifically for a manufacturer, this was a range designed by and produced as a sample set so the process could be refined prior to implementation.

Steel, leather and timber

This range was designed for a different manufacturer, who had a different skill and equipment within their factory. The table was veneered in Tasmanian Myrtle with powder coated steel frames.

Multi media design

This range was designed for a manufacturer who wanted to diversify their existing range of furniture. The range was based of a traditional shingle splitting Froe, the use of a simple padded seat designed to fit with the manufacturers capabilities. This range was production proofed by producing all of the variations prior to handing the design over to the factory.

This piece was produced for an exhibition to demonstrate the basic design was able to be adapted into differing materials and formats. The stainless steel frames connecting the legs could be dismantled for transport. This was also used to showcase the differing types of veneer that at the time had no major commercial application.

Laminated timber chairs

This range experimented with materials not normally associated with furniture, the corrugated steel backs were made to flex allowing a more comfortable seating posture. The expiration of galvanisation in furniture was one of the different aspects of this range. This range was also designed to be assembled onsite decreasing the the volume for transport. Many of these ranges had specific parameters, requested by the manufactures involved.
